Our Language Tutoring Program offers various workshops to help you make the most of your studies.


Workshop 1: University Culture & Communication

German University Culture

Communicating with Lecturers (office hours and emails)

You can start applying what you have learned in your everyday university student life right away. The DaF Language Tutoring Program is here to support you. You can clarify questions and discuss any difficulties you might have in implementing the tips from the workshop during one-on-one counseling sessions. Together, we will find ways for you to benefit from these workshops by taking into account your needs and skills.

How to give good presentations

Discussions and group work in an academic setting

We have also planned for an additional, voluntary practice day where you can practice giving a presentation and get immediate feedback for it.

Study Preparation Workshop Fit for Starting Your Studies

This workshop is aimed exclusively at participants in the Advanced courses of the Preparatory German Program. Other candidates cannot participate.

Credit Points:

Attending this workshop earns you 0,5 ECTS credit points.

Overview:

Studying at a German university presents a number of cultural challenges, for instance in the way that the academic system is organized. In order to make your studies in Germany as enjoyable and rewarding as possible, the first workshop is dedicated to German university culture. We also discuss what types of classes are most common at German universities and clarify the meaning of important terms for everyday life at university.

The second part of the workshop focuses on the subject of exams in a university context. The focus here is on oral exams in particular. You will learn common procedures and types of questions as well as strategies for preparation, follow-up, and behavior during oral exams.
