Mr David Harrieder has been awarded the Deutsche Bundesbank Prize for the best bachelor’s thesis for his work entitled "Volatility forecasts for foreign exchange markets with shrinkage estimators", written at the Chair of Statistics and Risk Management. The prize of EUR 1,000 was presented by the President of the Head Office of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Bavaria, Mr Reinhold Vollbracht, at this year's graduation ceremony.
In his bachelor’s thesis, Mr Harrieder analyzes the use of various estimation methods for forecasting exchange rate volatilities.
