Mr Lukas Ritter has been awarded the Deutsche Bundesbank prize for the best Master's thesis for his Master's thesis "Estimation of credit default probabilities using unbalanced data sets", which he wrote at the Chair of Statistics and Risk Management. The prize of EUR 2,000 was presented by the President of the Head Office of the Deutsche Bundesbank in Bavaria, Mr Reinhold Vollbracht, at this year's graduation ceremony.
In his Master's thesis, Mr Ritter analysed the use of various balancing methods in the estimation of credit default probabilities on the basis of an extensive simulation study.
