What does sustainable supply chain management look like when ecological responsibility, regulatory requirements and operational risks have to be taken into account at the same time?
The guest lecture by Martin Schießl, Specialist Risk Management Operations at DRÄXLMAIER (Vilsbiburg), addressed this question on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, in the Master's lecture "Supply Chain Management".

Based on the international orientation of the organisations, Mr Schießl gave a comprehensive insight into the sustainable management of global supply chains. The focus was on the question of how sustainability can be anchored not as an isolated goal, but as an integral part of operational processes - for example in purchasing, logistics and risk management. Specific practical examples were used to illustrate how DRÄXLMAIER is responding to increasing regulatory requirements and implementing these in existing structures.

In addition, the presentation showed the influence of external factors such as geopolitical tensions, climate-related disruptions or volatile markets on the stability of global supply chains and the role that forward-looking business risk management plays in the alignment of supply capability and sustainability goals.

The presentation therefore not only provided a practical insight into the reality of the business, but also an important bridge between theoretical concepts and current challenges in supply chain management.

We would like to thank Martin Schießl and DRÄXLMAIER for the open exchange, the practical insights and the valuable impulses for studying and teaching.
