The habilitation program is aimed at particularly qualified early career researchers. It serves to enable young academics to

  • carry out independent research and teaching tasks and
  • qualify for appointment to a professorship - with the support of a specialist mentor.

The habilitation at the Faculty of Informatics and Data Science (FIDS) demonstrates the academic and pedagogical aptitude to hold the rank of a full professor at universities (so-called “Lehrbefugnis”, which means teaching qualification) in the subject areas of computer science and data science. The title "Privatdozent/in" may be used when the authorization to teach is granted.

(see § 1 of the habilitation regulations)
