Study-accompanying IT training (SITA)

The training programme has a modular structure and teaches you study and career-oriented key skills in dealing with information and communication technologies and the design of digital media.
On successful completion of the study-related IT training programme, you will be able to

• select the appropriate methods and tools for different IT-specific problems,
• apply the tools relevant to you for different tasks in your studies or later professional life,
• solve problems efficiently thanks to knowledge of suitable workflows and tools,
• make decisions regarding the appropriate design of different digital media and media products.

There are no admission requirements for the IT study programme !
As long as you are enrolled at the UR, you are entitled to attend courses of the study-related IT training programme. This applies regardless of your degree programme and semester.

Did you attend your first course at SITA in or after the winter semester 2015/16? The 2015 study regulations apply to you!

The study-related IT training programme is modular, i.e. structured according to different subject areas. There are a total of eleven modules in which you can choose from a variety of IT courses.

Modules RZ-M01 to RZ-M08 are primarily part of the study-related IT training programme. Modules RZ-M61, RZ-M62 and RZ-M63 are imported courses from other faculties.

The program is divided into a mandatory (selective) component and an elective component.

Exam registration in FlexNow for SITA courses

You must register for the examination in FlexNow for all courses offered by the SITA programme (recognisable by the course numbers beginning with "60").

When you register, you will automatically be shown all the modules in which it is possible for you to take the exam. Please consider in advance which module you would like to register for and select the correct one accordingly.

The registration and cancellation periods for SITA courses run parallel to the course periods in FlexNow.

Please note: You will not receive ECTS points for courses that you enrol in “voluntary additional services”!

Exam registration with other faculties and the BVU

Please refer to the respective course descriptions in the SPUR course catalogue system to find out how to register for examinations for courses offered by other faculties.

For courses offered via the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) (recognisable by the course numbers beginning with "61"), examination registration takes place directly via the vhb. These credits can then be recognized by SITA.

If you would like to have courses from your main degree programme recognised as part of SITA, please send a FlexNow Data Sheet in PDF format clearly showing your achievements to: support.sita​(at)​ur.de. (opens your email program)
Please include the following information: your name, your student ID number, your degree program, the SITA examination regulations under which you are studying, the course in question, and the desired module in which the credit should be recognized.

If you would like to have courses that you have completed at another university or the Bavarian Virtual University (vhb) recognised as part of SITA, please send an e-mail with your digital certificate in PDF format and a written assurance that you will not submit the certificate to any other teaching institution for booking to: support.sita​(at)​ur.de. Required scope of services for obtaining the IT certificate

To obtain the IT certificate, you must have completed three modules in full, at least two of which must be from the mandatory (elective) component (2015 version: modules M01 to M06).

In order to successfully complete a CC module, you must generally attend and pass two courses worth 3 ECTS credits each, at least one of which must be graded. If both courses are graded, the module grade is the average of the two grades.

Exceptions: Modules RZ M61, RZ M62 and RZ M63 - no grading is required in these modules.

In addition, there are some courses that have a scope of 4 semester hours per week and a value of 6 ECTS credits.
A module is also deemed to have been fully completed when such a course is passed with a grade.

Applying for the IT certificate

As soon as your achievements have been fully recorded in FlexNow, you can apply for the certificate informally by e-mail via support.sita​(at)​ur.de (opens your email program).
Please provide your name, student number, degree programme and the Examination Regulations you are studying under.

The IT certificate is an official certificate with a seal and signature. Please note that the certificate can only be issued once and allow sufficient lead time for it to be issued.

Questions about individual courses

If you have any questions about the content or organisation of individual courses (time, room, type of examination, etc.), please contact the relevant lecturer directly.

You can find the contact details of the IT lecturers of the IT study programme as well as the lecturers from the faculties and institutions in the SPUR course catalogue system directly under the respective course information.

Administrative and organisational matters

For administrative and organisational matters relating to the IT study programme, such as recognition of certificates, rebookings and certificates, please contact our support team by e-mail at support.sita​(at)​ur.de (opens your email program) , stating your details (full name, student number, degree programme and Examination Regulations).

Registration for the courses is done through the student portal "SPUR (external link, opens in a new window)" (Login required).

There you'll find the course catalog organized by modules.

When you select a course, additional course information will be displayed. This allows you, as a student, to register for the course during the designated registration period.

In SPUR, the course description for each course in the “Modules / Courses of Study” section lists the modules in which the course can be included.

As part of the IT training programme, you are free to attend as many or as few courses as you like. You can view a record of your currently enrolled IT courses in FlexNow at any time and generate a Data Sheet (Transcript).

Please note, however, that the official IT certificate, which certifies full completion of the IT training programme, can only be obtained if you have completed at least three modules in full, at least two of which must be from the mandatory modules (RZ M01-RZ M06).

The decision regarding the recognition and credit value of SITA courses is made by the respective degree program that is accepting the credits and the Central Examination Office of your primary degree program.

Important: For a SITA course to be recognized, students must register for it and have the course credit recorded for the first time as part of the SITA (RZ-M01 to RZ-M63).

Courses registered under “voluntary additional courses” do not earn ECTS credits—so be sure to register for all courses you want to count toward the elective portion of your degree program in FlexNow under the relevant SITA modules!

Students majoring in the humanities can obtain information on the recognition of prior learning from the Humanities Examinations Office (“PA Phil”).

Students studying for a teaching degree should contact their Teaching Degree Examination Office with the relevant application for recognition of credits in elective courses in the teaching degree programme.

The name “Additional Courses” says it all – here you can take any modules that you can't (or can no longer) fit into your schedule.
You need to complete three modules to earn the certificate. So if you've already completed all three, you can now take additional modules under RZ-ZL.
