News: Information on the use of AI and new affidavit

09 March 2026, by Institut für Politikwissenschaft

Dear students of political science and democracy studies,

we hereby inform you about the guidelines for the use of AI for students and employees of the UR, which Prof. Dr. Leist (vice-president for digitalization, networks and transfer) has created, as well as about the latest guidelines for the use of AI in the preparation of written examinations:. You can find the guidelines here (external link, opens in a new window).

We have amended the BA and MA Examination Regulations accordingly in the summer semester 2025 in connection with measures for the unauthorised plagiarism of content and the use of AI for the preparation of written work. Please note the new, strict regulations in §53, para. 4, sentences 2 and 3 of the BA Examination Regulations(NEW BA Examination (external link, opens in a new window) Regulations) and in §26, para. 5, sentence 2 of the MA Examination Regulations for Democracy Studies(NEW MA Examination Regulations (external link, opens in a new window)).

Accordingly, from 1 February 2026, our new affidavit (external link, opens in a new window) for the submission of written work as coursework or examination work (academic poster, seminar and qualification papers, other) will apply. Please note that from now on only this version will be accepted at the Institute of Political Science.

Enclosed you will also find the University of Regensburg's comments on the significance of the EU AI Regulation for the University of Regensburg: https: (external link, opens in a new window) //www.uni-regensburg.de/universitaet/digitalisierung/ki-leitlinien

With best regards,
