Chair of Data Security and Cryptography

Welcome to the website of the Chair of Data Security and Cryptography at the Faculty of Informatics and Data Science at the University of Regensburg.

In our research we study diverse aspects of cryptography, especially post-quantum cryptography. More detailed information about our research topics, current publications, and projects can be found in the research section.

The computer science degree programs at the University of Regensburg are currently being developed. In the future, we will offer various courses on cryptography and especially post-quantum cryptography. Currently we supervise bachelor and master theses, also for students from other universities. Further information and open topics can be found in the teaching section.
In the summer term 2023, we are offering a seminar on code-based cryptography.

October 2023

We welcome Antoine Gansel in our working group, who joined our team in October 2023 as a PhD student.

October 2023

We are looking for talented colleagues (PhD, PostDoc) who are interested in doing research on applied quantum key distribution (QKD) and have a strong background in physics, and basic knowledge in cryptography.

September 2023

From September 1st on, our respected colleague Patrick will start as research group leader at University of Konstanz. We wish him all the best!

The paper 'Cryptographic Smooth Neighbors' by Michael Meyer, together with Giacomo Bruno, Maria Corte-Real Santos, Craig Costello, Jonathan Komada Eriksen, Michael Naehrig, and Bruno Sterner, has been accepted at Asiacrypt 2023.

September 2023

The paper 'Separating Oil and Vinegar with a Single Trace' by Thomas Aulbach and Juliane Krämer, together with Fabio Campos, Simona Samardjiska and Marc Stöttinger, will be presented by Thomas Aulbach at CHES 2023 in Prague on September 13.

July 2023

SQIsign, submitted by a team including Michael Meyer, has been accepted as a Round 1 candidate in NIST's standardization process for digital signature schemes.

July 2023

On 07.07.2023, Thomas Aulbach will give a talk on the side channel resistance of the signature scheme UOV as part of the NIST PQC seminars.
