ICIS is considered the world's leading conference in the field of business informatics and in 2025 focused on the theme of ‘Achieving Digital Integration in the Age of AI’.
Our research assistants, Andreas Schauer and Philipp Hartl, contributed the following papers:
Hartl, P. & Schnurr, D. (2025). Encouraging Data Donations: An Experimental Analysis of Contextual Factors and Personal Antecedents.

Nominated for the conference's best paper award
The paper examines the influence of contextual factors and personal antecedents on the willingness to donate data. An online experiment with a representative sample shows that emphasising immediate social benefits increases willingness to donate, while a broad consent form has a negative effect. Perceived social obligation and individual privacy concerns prove to be key influencing factors.
This research project is funded by the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt), an institute of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
Schauer, A. & Schnurr, D. (2025). Fostering Trustworthy Human-AI Collaboration through Explainable AI and Uncertainty Quantification.

This paper experimentally investigates how the combination of explainable AI and uncertainty quantification improves the quality of decisions and user trust in AI systems. The results show that only the interaction of both approaches leads to significantly better human-AI collaboration in critical decision-making contexts.
