Academic Writing Support for Students in the Department of Biology
The Academic Writing Service supports students in writing academic texts. It helps them to structure their writing process, develop clear arguments and write with linguistic precision. In addition, it offers guidance on research questions, literature reviews and formal requirements. The Writing Advisory Service provides a space for individual enquiries and supports students through all stages of the writing process.
Individual writing support is available to all students in the Faculty of Biology and Pre-clinical Medicine who require assistance with writing an academic paper.

Writing tutor for Biology/Natural Sciences: Simone Antesberger (Simone.Antesberger@stud.uni-regensburg.de)
Ms Antesberger offers writing consultancy for German- and English-language academic texts in the fields of biology and the natural sciences (e.g. laboratory reports, Bachelor’s and Master’s theses). The aim of the consultancy is to support you throughout the writing process and to strengthen your writing skills in a targeted manner.
These confidential one-to-one sessions support students with, amongst other things:
- the general approach to academic writing
- the organisation and structuring of academic texts
- precise academic expression in German and English
- revising existing texts
Together, we can also develop individual strategies to optimise the writing process and thereby improve the quality of your academic work in the long term.

Writing advice for English-language texts
At the Writing Centre, Arslan Raza supervises students who write their academic work or publications in English, especially in the experimental sciences; biology and pre-clinical studies.
All students are welcome to contact Mr Raza with any questions they may have about writing academic work in English. This includes, among other things
- the writing process and an efficient approach
- the requirements of different types of scientific texts
- the specific academic language of English
- the academic communication style in English

It is a good idea to get support with your writing at an early stage. Especially when writing academically in another language, you will benefit enormously from feedback from the Writing Centre, which will help you:

- gain linguistic precision
- significantly improve the quality of your work.
