At the Faculty of Biology and Preclinical Medicine, biological diversity is a fundamental topic in studies and research.
The study of biology has particular potential to sensitise students to the diversity and variance of biological phenomena and to promote an understanding of genetic, taxonomic (species diversity) and ecological biodiversity.
The field of biodiversity is closely interlinked with scientific nature conservation, the challenges of biodiversity loss and anthropogenic climate change and thus also with the goals of education for sustainable development.

Diversity is also reflected in the variety of biological sub-disciplines and interdisciplinary or international projects.
The diversity of perspectives makes it possible to bring together different ways of thinking and experiences; it promotes creativity and innovative solutions to problems.

In addition, diversity is a potential and a challenge in working groups and courses in which people with different biographical, social and cultural backgrounds meet.

The Faculty of Biology and Preclinical Medicine attaches great importance to equal opportunities in studies and research and to enabling individual freedom in study programmes and qualification work.
