Students studying biology can spend time abroad during their bachelor's or master's degree program.

As a rule, students apply for a semester of leave. Information on leave of absence can be found on the Student Office website.

Please note the Student Office's information on coursework and exams during leave of absence.

Bachelor Biology

In the Bachelor's program in Biology, the third year of study, i.e., the 5th and 6th semesters, is recommended for studying abroad.

Please note that at the beginning of the 5th semester, either the elective internship in Genetics or Microbiology takes place, and during the 5th semester, the compulsory course “Statistics and Bioinformatics” takes place. You can either take a corresponding course at the university abroad, which must be clarified in advance with the respective responsible teachers at the University of Regensburg, or you can take these courses in Regensburg in a later semester.

Courses suitable for recognition:

  • Biology seminars (Module 21 Key Competencies)
  • Professional qualification courses (Module 21 Key Competencies)
  • Special lectures in biology and other subjects (Module 23 Specialization Module)
  • Project internships (Module 24 Specialization Module)

If necessary, the bachelor's thesis can also be completed externally.

Of course, all other courses from the bachelor's program in biology can also be recognized by arrangement.

!!! The stay abroad can be credited with 2 CP as a career-oriented achievement (for crediting, please contact the program coordinator Elisabeth Brunner after your stay abroad).

Credits are recognized using the digital course planning form (KPF).

The form and information on the recognition process can be found on the International Office website.

Master Biology

The first and second semesters of the Master's program in Biology are particularly suitable.

Courses eligible for recognition:

Professional qualification courses (Job Skills module)
   Essay (Communication Skills module)
   Poster (Communication Skills module)
