Writing counselling
Academic writing counselling for students in the Faculty of Biology
Individual writing counselling is available to all students of the Faculty of Biology and Preclinical Medicine who need support with the preparation of academic work (laboratory protocols, bachelor's theses and master's theses).
The confidential consultations can be used, for example, to develop general approaches to scientific writing or to recognise and reduce frictional losses during the writing process. Helpful tools can also be provided for brainstorming, literature research, writing in English, revision or more general writing-related problems.

Writing advice for English-language texts
At the Writing Centre, Arslan Raza supervises students who write their academic work or publications in English, especially in the experimental sciences; biology and pre-clinical studies.
All students are welcome to contact Mr Raza with any questions they may have about writing academic work in English. This includes, among other things
- the writing process and an efficient approach
- the requirements of different types of scientific texts
- the specific academic language of English
- the academic communication style in English

It is a good idea to get support with your writing at an early stage. Especially when writing academically in another language, you will benefit enormously from feedback from the Writing Centre, which will help you:
- Structure your argument more clearly, avoid misunderstandings,
- plan the stages of the writing process and time management
- clarify the requirements of the desired text type
- gain linguistic precision
- significantly improve the quality of your work.
