IKARUS: Promoting intelligent AI expertise and identifying risks [2026 – 2027]

The course “Object-Oriented Programming” is a required course in the first semester of the Bachelor’s program in Business Informatics.

It provides the conceptual and practical foundation for the remainder of the program.

Concepts such as classes, inheritance, encapsulation, and polymorphism are not merely course material—they are fundamental tools for thinking that students will use throughout their professional careers.

Generative AI tools, such as code assistants, have long been part of everyday life in software development.

Many students use them as early as their first semester—but often without thinking critically about them and without understanding their limitations and risks.

This is exactly where the AI tutor comes in: Its purpose is not to provide ready-made solutions, but to actively guide and challenge students’ thought processes.
