Professorship for Spatial Dimensions of Cultural Processes
The professorship is part of the Department of Interdisciplinary and Multiscalar Area Studies (DIMAS) and its research and teaching activities take place at the interface of literature, cultural studies and sociology as well as in transcultural border areas.
She focuses on space as a socio-cultural product, global exchange dynamics and media - especially fictional texts and multimodal narratives - as a mirror and driver of social change. A regional focus is on inter-American and transatlantic interdependencies, particularly with regard to the plurilingual, (post)colonial cultures of the Caribbean, Latin America and the francophone world. She is particularly interested in narrative fictional and non-fictional literature as well as graphic narratives.
Prof. Dr. Anne Brüske
- Important information: As a researcher in cultural studies, I focus on the cultures and media of Europe and the Americas. I have developed an interdisciplinary approach that explores the disciplinary borderlands and boundaries of cultural studies, sociology and area studies. My focus lies in particular in spatial theories, transculturality and regional/global developments.
