Department of German Studies

Whether it be the translation of Middle High German texts, linguistic and literary-historical contexts, theoretical debates, dialectal peculiarities, rhetorical subtleties, performative aspects, literature in new media, or the teaching of the German language at home and abroad: At the Institute of German Studies, we are not only interested in a specific aspect of the discipline – but in German Studies as a whole. That is why we teach and conduct research across seven specialist areas.
