Chair in German as a Second Language

The university subject ‘German as a Second Language’ (DaZ) deals with the acquisition and teaching of the German language in situations where German is not the first language but the language of the immediate environment. The focus is on linguistic aspects of individual multilingualism, didactic approaches to supporting multilingual people in educational institutions, and pedagogical issues relating to language and integration.
