Research

At the University of Regensburg, research in the field of German as a Second Language (DaZ) focuses primarily on key topics in second language acquisition, multilingualism research and language education in multilingual contexts.

This includes, amongst other things, studies on acquisition processes (how people learn German as a second language), internal and external multilingualism, early childhood multilingualism and the assessment of language proficiency.

Furthermore, migration, integration, language policy, interculturality and media use in multilingual contexts are key academic research areas, complemented by didactic and methodological questions relating to language support and DaZ teaching in various educational and social contexts.
