The benefits of our exchange programmes
Our international exchange programme offers you three key benefits:
1. Recognition of academic achievements
Academic credits earned as part of our exchange programme at another institute of German Studies will be recognised in Regensburg, either partially or in full, following prior consultation with a student adviser. So you won’t lose any time – you’ll gain valuable experiences!
2. Leave of absence in Regensburg
During your stay abroad, you will be on leave of absence from Regensburg, even though your international academic credits will be recognised.
3. Funding through a scholarship
Stays at German Studies departments as part of our exchange programme are generally funded by scholarships, which cover a large proportion of travel and living costs; any tuition fees incurred are waived in full (for ERASMUS+) or in part (for overseas programmes). Students receiving BAföG are entitled to the (higher) overseas BAföG, and students who do not receive BAföG should check their eligibility for overseas BAföG, as separate income thresholds apply here. So you won’t lose any money, and where you do have to contribute a little extra, you are investing in your professional future.
Further internship opportunities for students of German Studies
Some organisations offer internship placements for students of German (particularly those on teacher-training programmes). Although these placements are not part of our exchange programme, we would strongly encourage you to find out more about them and to discuss funding with the International Office (IO), which can support you through the ERASMUS+ and PROMOS programmes.
