Financial Services & IT

The Financial Services and IT (Information and Communication Technologies) cluster deals with the analysis, optimisation and management of IT in financial services companies. The aim is to transfer new concepts (e.g. Internet banking, electronic exchanges and markets, concepts of process and quality management, IT security governance) and technologies (e.g. Web 2.0, service-oriented architectures, knowledge-based systems, neural networks) from research to financial application practice. Due to the growing importance of information systems for the strategy of financial services companies, the interactions between strategy and IT are also analysed.

Specific research topics within this cluster include

  • Use and management of IT in banking operations (including information system architectures, technical distribution channels, electronic customer relationship systems, electronic payment systems, information security)
