Contents of the module
In this module, simulation games and exercises are taught as a learning method for cyber security. In an introduction, simulation games are presented and the background and methodology are explained. Different types of simulation games (e.g. discussion-orientated or action-orientated) are explained and technologies for carrying out simulation games and cyber exercises are presented. Advantages and disadvantages are discussed and how these are used in the field of cyber security for e.g. awareness raising, competence building and verification and compliance.
As part of the module, students will apply the methodology in a group project and design, implement and evaluate simulation games. Depending on the number of participants, students will be divided into at least two groups in order to take on the role of the organising team of a simulation game or the participants.
Qualification goals
After successfully completing the module, students will have gained a comprehensive insight into the methodology and use of simulation games and cyber exercises in the field of cyber security. They know the most important basic concepts of simulation games and cyber exercises and can explain them. You will be able to define a simulation game or cyber exercise based on the methodology and create content and recordings. They can instruct and evaluate simulation games and cyber exercises. Students know how to use this methodology in a corporate context and for specific objectives.
