Contents of the module

Process Mining as a method - Introduction to Process Mining - Background: Petri Nets, Workflow Nets, Process Trees - Methodology and challenges - Event Logs (e.g. Extensible Event Stream (XES) Standard) Process Discovery Algorithms - Alpha Algorithm - Genetic Mining - Inductive Mining - Region-based Mining Further perspectives - Conformance Checking - Organisational Mining Tools of Process Mining

Qualification goals

After successfully completing this module, students will have gained a comprehensive insight into the methodology and use of process mining techniques. They know and understand various process discovery algorithms and can apply them directly. Students can assess which algorithms can be used for different applications. They are familiar with various tools that enable process mining. After completing the module, students will know how to use process mining in a business context and how to use it as an analysis technique for specific issues. In the exercise, the content of the lectures is deepened with examples so that students can carry out the algorithms and techniques of process mining themselves or apply them practically with the help of tools.
