The most important facts in brief
What are the digital humanities?
Digital Humanities refers to the combination of humanities issues with digital methods, tools and infrastructures. They open up new approaches to texts, images, objects and data and form an interdisciplinary field of research at the interface of the humanities, cultural studies and computer scientists. In research and teaching, we combine digital methods with questions from the humanities and cultural studies. The aim is to utilise digital technologies to analyse, process and communicate cultural and historical materials. Our projects deal with digital text analysis, digital editions, the annotation and modelling of humanities research data, the visualisation and exploration of complex data sets, the preparation and sustainable provision of research data and the critical reflection of digital methods in the humanities. Thematically, the programme also focuses on gender studies.
