Focus Area 1 – Foundations of the modern legal system
Specialisation 1 aims to offer you the opportunity to take a step back from fast-paced, dogmatic, detailed knowledge and instead focus on the fundamental structures of our modern legal system – including its links to related disciplines. The (revised) Specialisation 1 comprises modules on contemporary legal history, philosophy of law, comparative law and sociology of law. We do not claim to train you, in just a few semesters, to become a fully-fledged philosopher, or a historian or sociologist with a firm grasp of methodology. Rather, we aim to introduce you to the main features of these various ‘alternative’ approaches to law. We ensure planning certainty for the specialisation examination by specifying a definitive corpus of sources. If you have any questions, please feel free to email martin.loehnig /a/ ur.de!
Practice Area 10 – Family and Law of Succession
Specialisation Area 10 is aimed at all law students with a particular interest in family and law of succession, including its international aspects. The specialisation programme is designed not only to offer you the opportunity to deepen and broaden the knowledge of national family and law of succession already acquired during your main study stage, but also focuses on private international law (PIL), with a particular focus on specific issues relating to family and law of succession, alongside the fundamentals of dealing with cross-border cases. If you have any questions about Specialisation Area 10, please feel free to email martin.loehnig /a/ ur.de!
