Welcome to NWT - Science and Technology
The science and technology (NWT) working group is made up of people from the three didactics departments for biology, chemistry and physics as well as seconded teachers from the active teaching profession. Our working group is headed by the three professors of the respective chairs of didactics and is supported by the three Faculties of Biology and Preclinical Medicine, Chemistry and Physics. This close cooperation enables a unique combination of specialised knowledge, didactic findings and practical relevance for schools. Together we create a modern, practical and interdisciplinary teacher training programme.
The central focus of the working group is the scientifically based training of teachers for primary, secondary and special schools in the subject areas of Primary Science and Social Studies as well as Nature and Technology. The program is based on current scientific findings and takes into account the complex, interdisciplinary requirements of school curricula. Students acquire basic scientific skills as well as an in-depth understanding of domain-specific teaching and learning processes in the natural sciences. We see Science and Technology as a place where different natural sciences perspectives come together to create innovative approaches for modern teaching.
