Didactic subject Science and Technology
Science and Technology is in Bavaria a currently unique program designed for student teachers at elementary, middle, and special education schools. In addition to the subject-specific and pedagogical foundations in biology, chemistry, physics and technology, the program focuses primarily on interdisciplinary and application-oriented content. This integrated approach provides solid preparation for the interdisciplinary topics found in the curricula of elementary, middle, and special education schools.
The Bavarian teacher training programme is divided into an academic course of study at university, which ends with the first state examination, and a two-year preparatory service at state schools, which concludes with the second state examination.
The university program for teacher training consists of:
| Primary school teaching degree | Secondary school teaching degree | Teaching degree in special education |

Structure of the Program of Science and Technology as a Didactic Subject
The Science and Technology degree programme combines important disciplines of the natural sciences and provides students with a holistic view of their environment.
In terms of content, the NWT program covers, on the one hand, the subject-specific and pedagogical fundamentals of biology, chemistry, physics, and technology (basic courses and advanced courses). On the other hand, we place particular emphasis on interdisciplinary education (especially Module 2 courses), which is indispensable in everyday school life - especially in the subject HSU (elementary school) and in the subject Nature and Technology (middle school). There, science content is also taught in an integrated manner. This is precisely what we aim to prepare you for, as we, too, teach science content not in isolation, but in an interconnected, practical and hands-on way. This hands-on approach is reflected in the preparation, execution, and evaluation of experiments, work with models, and other subject- and student-appropriate methods. In addition, the learning lab offers student teachers the opportunity to gain experience teaching science to students and to develop skills in identifying learning needs. Our goal is to empower you, as a future teacher, to inspire children and young people to take an interest in science and technology.
With the exception of the specialisation course (GS) and the advanced courses (MS), all courses are are designed for all school types, so that you can benefit not only from the interdisciplinary nature of the subject matter but also from insights into other school types.
