Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Mohr

Prof. Dr Mohr is an internationally renowned and leading expert in technology strategy and technology-driven transformation, with more than 30 years’ experience in top-level management consultancy and in C-suite roles across various industries. His in-depth expertise in software and hardware, in building tech ecosystems, in transforming companies through technological disruption (including M&A activities), and in scouting for and developing deep-tech start-ups is highly regarded.
Dr Mohr currently serves as a business angel, supervisory board member and advisory board member for various tech start-ups and companies. He has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board at König + Neurath AG since July 2026, a member of the Advisory Board at Bosch Quantum Sensing since September 2025, and a member of the Advisory Board at vGreens since February 2024.
From October 2024 to January 2026, Prof. Dr Nikolaus Mohr was a member of the Executive Board of the Friedhelm Loh Group, as well as CEO of Rittal International and Rittal Software Systems.
From April 2015 to September 2024, Prof. Dr Mohr was a Senior Expert Partner at McKinsey & Company in the Düsseldorf office. There, he primarily advised and supported clients across various industries in the development of their technology and digital strategies, as well as in the design of their digital transformation roadmaps.
Prior to this, Prof. Dr Nikolaus Mohr spent 15 years as Managing Partner and Managing Director at Accenture GmbH, and just under two years as Managing Partner at Mücke, Sturm & Company (MS&C) in Germany. At Accenture, he was responsible for management consultancy services for the telecoms, media and high-tech/defence sectors in German-speaking countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). He was also the global client partner for an international telecoms company and the European lead for the Valuation Practice (Client Value Lab).
As a strategy consultant, he has over 30 years’ experience in developing and implementing projects in the fields of strategy, organisation and IT/technology at senior management level across various industries (including consumer electronics, the automotive sector, banking and manufacturing, amongst others). As a recognised expert on digital transformation and trends in the telecommunications, media and high-tech industries, he is a sought-after interviewee and speaker at international conferences discussing industry trends, digitalisation, the future of computing, quantum technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital ecosystems. He founded ‘The Spark – The German Digital Prize’, which he led and hosted for nine years until his departure from McKinsey & Company.
He is the author of numerous management books, specialist articles and industry studies, such as ‘McKinsey’s Quantum Technology Monitor’, ‘Industrial IoT and Leading Technologies as Drivers of Digital Transformation in Manufacturing’, ‘Mobile Web Watch’ and ‘Interactive Broadband Media’, “Managing Resistance Successfully” or “The Challenge of Transformation”.
During his academic career, Dr Mohr was a visiting lecturer in International Business Strategy at the University of Georgia (USA) and taught Strategic Transformation Management as an honorary professor at the University of Regensburg. He obtained his doctorate in Business Administration.
Prof. Dr Nikolaus Mohr was appointed honorary professor on 1 December 2011.
