About:
I am a PhD candidate whose research sits at the intersection of blockchain technology, economics, and information systems. The world is moving onto the blockchain. Trillions of dollars of real-world assets, like gold, real estate, and financial instruments, are being represented as digital tokens, promising greater transparency, accessibility, and efficiency in how society owns and transfers value. Yet a fundamental paradox lies at the heart of this transformation: blockchain was designed to eliminate trusted intermediaries, yet it consistently reintroduces them the moment a real-world asset is anchored to an on-chain token.
I study this paradox, which I term as the "Custodial Enigma", at the intersection of blockchain technology, economics, and information systems research. My work aims to develop frameworks to conceptualize, measure, and redesign the relationship between real-world assets and their on-chain representations. The goal is to move tokenization architectures away from discretionary custodial assurance and toward verifiable ownership, enforceable redemption rights, and genuine trust minimization.
