Dr Patrick Beer

Dr Patrick Beer holds a PhD in Educational Science and has been an assistant professor at the University of Regensburg since 2019. He coordinates the career-integrated Master’s programme ‘Leadership for Change (M.A.)’ and is also the JURE coordinator for EARLI SIG 14 ‘Learning and Professional Development’. Previously, his responsibilities included representing mid-level academic staff on the departmental management committee and contributing to the international SOSNetLab project.

His research focuses on development processes across the lifespan, particularly – though not exclusively – in the context of vocational education and professional development amidst changing social conditions, such as those brought about by advancing digitalisation.

Teaching

Dr Patrick Beer teaches courses in both German and English, particularly on the Bachelor’s degree programme in education and in teacher training.

In terms of content, these courses cover educational theories of teaching and learning, counselling and evaluation, as well as empirical methods – including qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods approaches – and the combination of theories and research methods in professional practice (e.g. pedagogical assessment or evaluation).
