  • on the relationship between media and writing (including punctuation)
  • on morphosyntactic variation, varieties and processes of (de)standardisation
  • as well as on multilingualism and regionality.

For further information on existing research activities and projects, please contact Prof. Dr Paul Rössler. For details of other research priorities of the chair’s members, please refer to the staff profiles on the relevant subpages.

In cooperation with this Chair, the Chair of German Linguistics conducts research into the German language in all its historical and contemporary diversity across Eastern Europe. This research is institutionally based at the Research Centre for German in Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (FZ DiMOS) (external link, opens in a new window).

To carry out its research projects and pursue its research interests, the Department of German Linguistics in Regensburg maintains numerous external collaborations and partnerships, particularly with foreign universities in South-Eastern Europe.
