In the Master's degree program in German language and literature, students must take two sub-subjects, each with two advanced modules, as well as one additional advanced module. A maximum of two advanced modules - GER-M 30 (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible) and GER-M 31 (opens in a new window). (This PDF is not accessible) - can be taken in German linguistics; this results in the following case groups:

  • Case 1: German linguistics as an M.A. sub-discipline with a Master's thesis:
GER-M 30 and GER-M 31 must be completed; both advanced modules are completed with a module examination ( a) final module examination)

  • Case 2: German linguistics as an M.A. minor without a Master's thesis:
GER-M 30 and GER-M 31 must be completed; one advanced module is completed with a final module examination (a), one with partial module examinations (b)

  • Case 3: German linguistics is not one of the M.A. sub-subjects:
GER-M 30 or GER-M 31 can be completed as an ungraded advanced module
