Introductory lecture
The introductory lecture will take place on Wednesday, 8 April at 18:00 in Lecture Hall 3 (H3).
Starting your studies and information material
The change from school to university is a great challenge for many first-year students. While pupils are obliged to attend classes and homework and (oral) examinations are daily companions, students have a much greater degree of freedom and thus also personal responsibility. The Institute has therefore written a guide to student self-management to help students cope with the start of studies and as a "handbook" for their further studies. It provides instructions and many practical tips on how to organise your political science studies in such a way that you can study successfully without being overburdened.
On the General Information and Notes on Studying page, you will find numerous information sheets, information brochures and all relevant examination and study regulations. We strongly recommend that all first-year students read these materials carefully
Course catalogues and registration for courses
Course catalogues and registration for courses
The course catalogues for the B.A. Political Science and M.A. Democracy Studies programmes can be found on the university platform SPUR. All lectures and seminars of the degree programmes are listed there. You must also use SPUR to register for the seminars (which is done before the start of lectures). The registration deadlines can be found in the link . First-year students will receive all important information on registration during the Introductory Events for New Students.
Organisation of the institute
The Institute of Political Science consists of three chairs and two professorships, who also head the institute. The chairs and professorships include numerous members of staff.
