Information on the First State Examination in the subject of Sciences and Technology (NWT)

 

Entry requirements

Students studying to become primary or lower secondary school teachers, or special educational needs teachers, who have chosen NWT as their teaching subject, complete their degree with an oral examination as part of the First State Examination (see LPO I, §36(3)3 or §38(3)2).

The examination must be taken by NWT students from all types of school. Restriction: Students on the primary school teacher training programme who have taken NWT as a subject specialisation alongside art, music or sport must sit the examination in art, music or sport; there is no option to choose.

Examination period

The NWT examination takes place within the regular oral examination period of the First State Examination. This period lasts approximately eight weeks and begins in the spring and autumn following the written State Examination. The specific examination date is set by the Examinations Office.

Note on the preparatory course

We will contact examination candidates as soon as we receive the registration list from the Examination Office. You will then receive all the information regarding preparation and the exact procedure for the examination.
