The aim of the Master's subject is to teach advanced methods of information science. The Master's programme focuses on the scientific profile of Regensburg information science: media informatics, human-machine interaction, knowledge-based systems, language and text technology and information philosophy. While fundamentally covering central fields of information science, it offers the opportunity to study these areas in depth in a research-oriented manner. The methodological character of information science is emphasised by discussing and demonstrating information science issues and methods in different application contexts.

What can I do with this degree?
Information scientists (M.A.) have advanced methodological skills (experimental user research etc.). The interdisciplinary approach of the degree programme enables them to assess the impact of technology. In contrast to information scientists (B.A.), they also work in public and private teaching and research institutions.

Master of Arts: In principle, only one subject is studied. However, individual degree programs can have a strongly interdisciplinary structure. This means that the content of the degree program may come from different subject areas.

Details Requirements
Eligibility Test / Aptitude Test
In order to enrol on the Master's degree programme in Information Science, you must take part in a so-called Eligibility Test.
Requirements for this are an above-average degree in an information science or comparable Bachelor's subject (computer scientists, business informatics, media informatics, etc.).
After a successful application (Eligibility Test) for the Information Science programme, you can enrol at the Registrar's Office. Information on enrolment can be found on the Registrar's Office homepage.
