The campus of the University of Regensburg
The University of Regensburg is located in the southern part of Regensburg, in the "Galgenberg" district. It was founded on 18 July 1962 by a resolution of the Bavarian State Parliament and the foundation stone for the campus was laid on 20 November 1965 on a 150-hectare site that had previously been used mainly for agriculture.

Today, the Regensburg campus is home to eleven faculties, whose buildings are embedded in spacious green areas. The newest, twelfth faculty - the Faculty of Informatics and Data Science - is located at Bajuwarenstraße 4 in the south of Regensburg.
