The Bavarian teacher training programme is divided into an academic course of study at the university, which ends with the first state examination, and a two-year traineeship, which concludes with the second state examination. The university study programme for a teaching degree at secondary schools consists of
- two teaching subjects,
- the education degree programme and
- the Internships.
The degree programme for the teaching degree Realschule in French is divided into a subject-specific and a didactics component.
In the subject-specific programme, you will deepen your knowledge of the language, culture and literature of the French and Francophone cultural area.
There is also a special focus on language practice: you will develop your French language skills up to level C1.2 and thus create a solid foundation for your future work as a teacher.
In didactics, you will learn to combine subject-related and didactic professional knowledge, to critically reflect on central theories and concepts of foreign language didactics and to develop activating tasks for learners, which you will test and evaluate during your didactics placement.

A teaching degree in French is just the thing for anyone who loves this language and wants to inspire young people with French. If you enjoy speaking French, are interested in France and the francophone world and are open to new cultural experiences, you already have important requirements.
If you like to communicate and enjoy motivating and supporting learners, a teaching degree is perfect for you.
Experience abroad - be it an Internship, an exchange or a longer stay - is also a big plus for your degree programme. They not only strengthen your language practice, but also give you many impressions that you can pass on later in the classroom.
What can I do with this degree?
By studying French as a teaching subject, you will primarily qualify to work as a teacher at secondary schools. There you will teach French, support pupils in their language acquisition and organise modern, motivating foreign language lessons.
There are also other options open to you: you can work in adult education, take part in exchange and educational programmes, work in cultural institutions with a connection to France or take on tasks in the publishing and media sector.
Your language skills, cultural knowledge and pedagogy skills will open up a wide range of career prospects - both inside and outside of school.

Details Requirements
Placement Test
The Institute of Romance Languages and Literature offers a Placement Test for all first-year students. This Placement Test serves to check your existing language skills and to ensure that you are placed in suitable language courses. It is therefore in your own interest to take the Placement Test.
Subject-Specific Language Requirements
The compulsory courses start at level B2 CEFR. This level is strongly recommended in order not to jeopardise the success of the teaching degree.
