Beyond Canon_ Research Colloquium: this week's guest will be Peter Gemeinhardt, presenting his studies on “Life-Long Learning in Late Antique Christianity: A Praxeological Approach” at the Centre's seminar room in 3.14.

Abstract:

How can Christian religion be taught, and who is active in this process? The paper examines institutional and informal settings of teaching and learning to Christian life and belief in Late Antiquity, ranging from the family and the catechumenate to the sermon as medium of communication education and monastic self-formation. From a praxeological point of view, it seems warranted to speak of a life-long process of learning that has similarities to as well as differences from other late antique forms of religious formation.
