Chair of Exegesis and Hermeneutics of the Old Testament

We are - of course - dealing with the Old Testament, a book that took several centuries to become what it is. It is ancient, comes from a completely different culture and region and has also been handed down in old, dead languages. What we are dealing with is very foreign at first.

And yet the books of the Old Testament have been important to many people on earth throughout the centuries and millennia. For generations, these people have regarded these writings as authoritative for their reflections on God and their life before God.
