Narratology and Gender (Mathias Winkler)

I am interested in how gender is portrayed in texts and what this is intended to convey to the readership. The interplay between narratology and gender studies enables, on the one hand, a historical and socio-cultural contextualisation of biblical narratives. The structure of a narrative is therefore not ‘neutral’, but can be given meaning (translated into meanings) and thus conveys information in its own right. This brings into focus not only the relationship between gender and the narrated world, but also that between gender and narrative, and the various narrative voices.
