Project

The Centre “Beyond Canon_” is funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and focuses on literary traditions beyond the biblical canon, on their diverse, often material forms of expression and their origins in “lived” and “folk” religion, as well as on their underestimated significance in the ritual life of the churches. Beyond Canon_ has already welcomed over 200 Fellows and guests from more than 30 countries, representing various disciplines such as New Testament Studies, Church History, Liturgical Studies, Egyptology, Armenian Studies, Art History, Talmudic Literature and Islamic Studies.
