From 8-10 October 2025, the Early Career Conference on "Nothing new in the East" took place in Göttingen at the invitation of the Chair of "Ecumenical Theology with special consideration of Orthodox Christianity and its global impact in history and the present". Young academics from various disciplines researching Eastern Church topics were invited to present their views on and work in the subject of Eastern Church Studies and to discuss the subject, its content, methods and future together.
In this context, Manuel Kuhn gave a lecture on Eastern Syriac Christianity and used two examples of dogma and church history from the Eastern Syriac "Church of the East" to shed light on the relevance of Eastern Church research for today and the contribution it can make to theology, church history and ecumenism.
