On 15 November 2023, two years after the loss of his esteemed colleague Prof. Dr Thomas Karmann, numerous friends and colleagues gathered at the Centre for Advanced Studies "Beyond Canon_" - where he had been appointed Honorary Fellow - to remember his impressive personality and his achievements in the academic environment.
In addition to joint reminiscences by his mentor, Prof. Dr Andreas Merkt, and esteemed colleagues, Prof. Dr Alfons Fürst from the University of Münster and Prof. DDr Mathias Moosbrugger from the University of Innsbruck, the memorial book was presented:
"Provocateurs, breaking taboos and adventures in thought. Crossing boundaries in early and late antique Christianity. Gedenkschrift für Thomas Karmann" (Forschungen zur Kirchen- und Dogmengeschichte), which was edited by Andreas Merkt, Tobias Nicklas and Harald Buchinger.
According to the publishing editor for theology and religious studies at Vandenhoek & Ruprecht, Dr Izaak de Hulster, the book was published in record time.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all those present, whose presence lent a special meaning and warmth to this commemorative event.
