Freunde der Universität Regensburg e.V.
Founded on 22 January 1948, “Freunde der Universität Regensburg e.V.” set themselves the task of promoting the establishment of a university in Regensburg. After the foundation of the fourth Bavarian state university was realised and teaching commenced in 1967, the association realigned its goals. Since then, it has promoted young academics, supported the university's public relations and cultural work and awarded the habilitation prize.
The association and its self-image
Today, the University of Regensburg and its hospital are confidently and successfully integrated into the network of European science. The Association of Friends of the University of Regensburg would like to support the university where other sources dry up. The association aims to strengthen the connection between the university and the people of the region, to be a centre for communication and events, and to be sensitive to all open and hidden currents that could have an impact on our alma mater ratisbonensis. In times when the life and work of the university is confronted with austerity measures, the commitment of theassocition is all the more important.
