“Beyond Canon_” Research Colloquium: this week's guest will be Ansgar Wucherpfenning, presenting his studies on “ Travelling Beatitudes: The Reception of the Macarisms in the Thekla Acts” at the Centre's seminar room in 3.14.
Abstract:
The textual journey of the Beatitudes will be traced from the Sermon on the Mount, through Paul’s first speech in the Acts of Paul and Thecla, to a sermon text found in two medieval manuscripts in Munich from St Emeram and in the Vatican Library. These transformations are a prime example for the textual fluidity of biblical and parabiblical texts.
