Abstract:
This presentation introduces Central European University Press (CEUP) and provides an overview of the academic book publishing process. It covers how to submit a proposal, what to expect from peer review and contracts, and how CEU Press supports authors through marketing, distribution, and open access publishing. The session also offers practical guidance on turning a PhD thesis into a book and explains the benefits of open access publishing for early-career researchers.
Linda McGrath:
She works for Amsterdam University Press and its imprint Central European University Press in multiple capacities. Her commissioning activities cover the humanities in both English and German language. With 15 years of experience in academic publishing, Linda has worked previously in Online Marketing and Business Development roles at De Gruyter in Boston and Berlin, and as the Head of Publications of Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany.
CEU Press:
It was founded in 1993, emerging at geographic, political and intellectual crossroads. Since its inception, the press published research that engages with broad questions of democracy, social justice, political history, civil society and culture, both within and beyond Central and Eastern Europe.
