Policy briefs, a standard research output in the Social Sciences, are increasingly becoming a format that the Humanities scholars are also expected to master. This shift reflects both the growing interdisciplinarity of academia and the interest of funders in supporting research projects that actively engage in outreach.

Coming from Memory Studies and Conflict Semiotics, Vjeran Pavlaković (Rijeka) and Katarina Damčević (IOS Regensburg) will discuss policy briefs within the context of research on memory politics and cultural heritage. Vjeran Pavlaković will share the experience of approaching this format in COST Action projects, while Katarina Damčević will frame policy briefs not only as policy outputs but as high-stakes academic writing practices. This would open space to consider how peer feedback and collaborative writing can improve clarity, audience awareness, and ethical positioning.
