After acquiring his Bachelor's degree in psychology from the Universidade Salvador and his Master’s degree in Neuroscience at the Free University of Amsterdam, Jorge Simoes worked at the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine Department of the Free University Medical Center in Amsterdam as a research assistant, before moving on as a PhD fellow at the Tinnitus Clinic from the University Hospital Regensburg under the supervision Prof. Dr. Berthold Langguth and Dr. Winfried Schlee. Mr Simoes earned his PhD with the title “Tinnitus profiling to guide personalized therapeutic decisions - diagnosis improved with large- scale, longitudinal data” in it in 2020. The aim of this thesis was to gain a better understanding of the heterogeneity of tinnitus, and implement the insights from his research into the clinical setting. He is currently a Postdoc fellow at the Univeristy Hospital Regensburg.
