Program structure

Students can choose two or three specialization modules, each consisting of 24 credit points. This is complemented by an elective module of 12 or 36 credit points as well as a seminar and master's thesis. Courses from the economics faculty or other faculties can be taken within the elective module, as can foreign language courses or an internship of at least six weeks.

Description

Business administration (BWL) is the economic analysis about the " management " of " businesses ". In this context, "business" is a more specific traditional term for companies. The term "management" is understood as the responsible use of limited resources. In other words, business administration is fundamentally concerned with the study of how companies use resources such as raw materials, goods, personnel and capital, and with the development of knowledge and instruments for organizing company activities in all their dimensions in such a way that the input/output relation is as optimal as possible.

Employment opportunities can be found in all types of companies and institutions in the private sector, in the public sector or in the health care system.


Internships, lab courses, practical courses

Internships are recommended. An internship can be credited to the elective module.


Disciplines involved

Management and leadership, financing, product and value chain management, taxation, corporate accounting and auditing, real estate management, quantitative finance.


Program duration / standard period of study

The length of the program depends on the progress of an individual's studies. The standard period of study, the time in which the intended program can be finished ideally is 4 semesters. The actual time taken to complete the program may vary. It is limited by the examination deadlines set out in the examination regulations.

What qualities do I need to have?

Interest in entrepreneurship, business, and general business topics as well as specific interest in one of the majors.


Restricted admittance

No, this program does not have restricted admittance; however, you will need to pass an eligibility test in order to enroll in the program.


Legal requirements for admission

In order to enroll in the master's program Business Administration, students have to participate in a so-called qualification procedure, which means that they first have to apply at the Faculty of Business and Economics.

Requirements for the study program are a relevant university degree, e.g. a bachelor's degree in the respective study program (if bachelor's degree not yet completed, official transcript of records amounting to at least 150 credit points), subject-specific knowledge amounting to 24 credit points and a grade point average (overall grade or weighted average of individual grades) better than 2.5.
