Teaching

The Professorship offers courses specifically designed for the M.A. in Multilingualism and Regionality (MA_MuR) as well as the supplementary training programme in multilingualism counselling. These courses focus on seminars on the theories and methods of multilingualism research, as well as on multilingualism in various regional contexts.

The courses are generally open to students from across the entire faculty and beyond. This fosters dialogue between perspectives from various individual philological disciplines and other fields, transcending language boundaries. It also creates unique opportunities for comparative perspectives on multilingualism – and it is not uncommon for multilingualism to be practised within the courses themselves. Students with diverse academic and linguistic backgrounds are cordially invited to join.

In addition, the Professorship regularly organises the ‘Multilingualism’ lecture series, which brings together current topics and perspectives in multilingualism research.

Master’s Programme in Multilingualism and Regionality (MA_MuR)

Within the MA_MuR programme, the professorship teaches theoretical and empirical-methodological approaches to the study of multilingualism, for example in practice-oriented seminars such as ‘Hands-on Phonetics’ or ‘Methods of Second Language Acquisition Research’. Another key focus is on multilingualism in various regional and social contexts, with courses such as ‘Languages of Migration in Bavaria’ or ‘Language Contact in North America’.

Further training in multilingualism

As part of the supplementary programme in multilingualism counselling, the professorship organises the annual lecture series on multilingualism. The professorship's seminars are also open to students on the supplementary programme.
