Marte Döhrer has a Bachelor's degree in North American Studies from Freie University Berlin, with a focus on sociology, literary and cultural studies. She has a Master's degree in American Studies from Humboldt University Berlin.
For her master's thesis she researched cultural representation of female villains with particular regard to their connections with moralized and biologically essentialist understandings of motherhood and the 'maternal.'
Research Focus
In her dissertation project she is researching the contemporary figure of the pop-feminist lesbian villain in popular visual culture.
